Shadows cast

Shadows cast is a horizontal sundial designed in an elliptical pattern. Hours of the day and months of the year are marked across its surface, and when a person stands on the tile marking the current month, their shadow falls on the number dial revealing the solar time. Following the rhythm of the sun, it connects us with the cycles of nature and planetary movements. Elements of the sundial pay homage to the history of astronomy in medieval Islamic sciences, drawing inspiration from the work of thinkers such as Ibn al-Haytham, Nasir al-Din al-Tusi, al-Battani, al-Biruni, and others, whose observations shaped how we understand the sky.
