Open Lab II
ReferenzBibliothek for Public Art in Hamburg and Beyond

Who decides on public art? Who has created it, and why? How does public art change over time? The ReferenzBibliothek (Reference Library) has been collecting diverse references on public art in Hamburg and beyond since 2025.

With Open Lab #2, hosted at Hyper Cultural Passengers on Veddel, the ReferenzBibliothek reaches out specifically to artists, initiatives, and practitioners involved in public art in southern and eastern Hamburg. The project seeks knowledge, references, and publications — what exists, what is remembered, and what has yet to be mapped.

Collective design and collaborative mapping are at the heart of the Open Lab.

From Thu, Apr 23 to Sun, Apr 26, a public programme featuring a book presentation, a communal dinner, and a radio performance creates space for encounter and exchange.
