Shadow Architecture

Shadow Architecture is a term coined by Aleksandra Wasilkowska, consists of objects or buildings, which function only on the margin of our awareness. They are created without participation of any professional architect, and imperceptibly emerge in cities’ niches. The shadow archetype in Carl Gustav Jung’s analytical psychology stands for a gathering of elements which have been tabooed or denied from the individual and collective consciousness, leading to complexes. The healing therapy is based on relocating of the elements from the shadow to the consciousness.
