Uwe Fleckner

Uwe Fleckner is Professor of Art History at the University of Hamburg and at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, where he is Director of the Advanced School of Art and Humanities. He is a member of the team of directors of the Hamburg Warburg House and co-editor of Aby Warburg's ‘Collected Writings’. Uwe Fleckner was deputy director of the Centre allemand d'histoire de l'art in Paris, a visiting professor at Stanford University and Peking University, a fellow at the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles, and co-director of the international research network ‘Bilderfahrzeuge - Aby Warburg's Legacy and the Future of Iconology’. Uwe Fleckner is the founder and director of the ‘Degenerate Art’ research centre at the University of Hamburg and the author of numerous books and essays on the history of art from the 18th to the 21st century, with a focus on German and French art and art theory as well as political iconography.
